CT — Pulmonary angiogram (CTPA)

Indication

Suspected acute pulmonary embolism.

Contrast

IV iodinated contrast, ~350–370 mgI/mL at 4–5 mL/s; bolus-tracking on the main pulmonary trunk (~100–150 HU threshold).

Planning notes

  • Caudocranial acquisition can reduce respiratory motion at the lung bases.
  • Assess for right-heart strain (RV/LV ratio) when PE is positive.
